This
famous poet built a house at the top of the Royal Mile around 1740.
Because the house had eight sides it was nicknamed 'Goose
Pie House'.
Ramsay was a wigmaker to trade who wrote essays and poetry. His talents
as a writer lead to fame and fortune.
A man of vision he created the very first borrowing library and made
books and plays available to the poor residents of the Royal Mile.
