The School built in 1888, stands in front of the site of Milton House,
built early in the same century.
The name of this building is derived from Andrew Fletcher of Milton, Lord
Justice Clerk of Scotland (1692-1766).
He was a nephew of Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun who headed a resistance
movement to the Union of Parliaments in 1707.
The residence later housed a Roman Catholic School, a deaf and dumb school,
and the Royal Maternity Hospital.
