MONTEITH'S CLOSE

While there is no evidence of how this close obtained its current moniker, its previous name of Fleming's Close derived from Patrick Fleming, who owned this and other property on the High Street.

James Kennedy, grandson of King Robert III, once had a residence on this site, but this no longer exists nor does the royal-tennis court owned by Fleming and rumoured to have sat on this site.
