FORSYTH'S CLOSE
Named
in recognition of the property acquired here by Alexander Forsyth, a burgess
of Edinburgh and a local coachmaker. Forsyth also owned stables and a
coach house nearby, serving travellers from London.
Although
public access is barred by the Gloucester Gate, the close still serves
as an access point for military veterans who are accommodated in Whitefoord
House which lies beyond.
Not open to the public.
