THE VAULTS
Built in the 15th century on the uneven rock on the south side of the
castle to form a level surface and a platform for Crown Square above.
The vaults have served a variety of purposes; stores, part of the arsenal,
soldiers' barracks, a bakehouse as well as a civil and military prison.
